Autumn Lawn Aeration

I would like to mechanically hollow tine aerate my lawn in next week - followed by a sand based lawn dressing. My question is  -do I have enough Autumn growing season left for the grass to recover?? I am in South Wales

    My OH did our front lawn last week, we are in South West so not far from you.
