Can I repot a pot bound rose now or should I wait for spring?

Hi,
I have recently inherited a very pot bound climbing rose, no idea how long it has been in the pot but it is in desperate need of repotting  Should I go ahead and risk doing it now or wait to early spring and do it then?
Thanks

I'm still repotting roses on into bigger pots from the rose growers ones so I'd repot it. The experts may have better advice if roots or branches should be trimmed or teased out, maybe in winter when it is dormant. By spring it should be well settled in a huge pot (as it is a climber) or better still in the ground.

Whenever I buy a plant, I pot it up one size as a matter of course   - whatever the season.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
