Lawn problems - weeds and rye grass

HeyHo!HeyHo! Posts: 113
I am against weed killer and prefer to dig the odd dandelion out.  Since feeding birds with birdfood, a lot of rye grass has appeared. Stopped using the birdfood now, but left with compact weeds which are very difficult to remove.  Also a clover type of plant creeping all over the grass.
Any advice on how to get my lawn back to normal without weed killers?

You'll have to dig every bit out and reseed if you don't want to use a weedkiller.
There is no easy solution  :)

No mess bird food helps reduce the problem if you have feeders near grass.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Are there weedkillers that don't harm birds and animals?
