Tomato Ripening

Is it best to try to fully ripen tomatoes indoors on a sunny windowsill or in a dark warm cupboard?

    It's warmth not light that ripens them, so whichever position is the warmest

    At the end of the summer season when the plant is tired and brown, I pick the green tomatoes and put them into a box lined with newspaper, then another layer of newspaper on top, then into a spare bedroom - not the same taste, but your own produce!!
    A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
