What squash is this?

Got this squash as a seedling from a friend. They’ve since mislaid the seed packet and can’t remember what it is! Can anyone identify? It’s been this size for about a month now.

I was thinking exactly the same @amancalledgeorge ... I’d pick it and use it ASAP.

  • It looks like a spaghetti squash as above. I have grown some this year and yours look exactly the same. You should leave them on the vine until they turn a golden greeny colour. They will store in a cool dark shed for a few months.

To cook them, split them in half lengthways, sprinkle with salt, pepper and oil. Lay cut side down in a roasting tin and bake on 400 for 1hr or until you can pierce them easily with a sharp knife. Turn them over and stir them to make them look more like spaghetti. Serve as you wish.

  • Okay thanks everyone. Good to get a consensus! I look forward to trying it!

If it's looked like that for a month I would give it a prod, if the skin is hard to a finger nail it's ready they don't all turn yellow. I grew a lot of them last year all from one packet, all meant to be a cream coloured spaghetti squash and two of the plants produced green ones like that one they did not change colour, they all tasted the same no matter what colour the skin was.
  • I can confirm it was a spaghetti squash. Picked today and roasted it up as suggested. Was delicious. Thanks again!
