I think you have to give up this year. We've only grown sweetcorn twice, this being our second year. We chose 'Earlibird' and the first few cobs were eaten in August. They were super sweet and a good size. However, the remainder were attacked by blackfly and we pulled up the crop 2-3 weeks ago.
I’ve found it important to use a variety developed for the shorter UK growing season. We find ‘Swift’ works really well for us. We sow indoors in April and plant out in early June ... harvesting in late August and September. However we only have a small veg patch and ting the changes so didn’t grow corn this year so I can’t say how we did 🙁

I've definitely given up hope of getting anything edible @rachelQrtJHBjb. I'm going to leave them in because I've got nothing to go in their place and, as I've never grown corn before, I'd like to see as much of the process as possible. All a learning curve to get put into practice next year.
Oh don't give up on anything edible. you can still get a crop off of them. how are the tiny little cobs doing? Pick them as soon as they tassel and you have minimaize, it's not the sweetcorn you wanted but it is something at least!
