Help! Identification of pear trees
Hello everyone,
Can anyone please help me identify these two different species of pear in my garden? We moved in a few years ago and have had so much fruit from these trees and no idea what species, when and how to harvest and ripen them.
I think the last pictures are conference pears? The first one no idea. I was reading that pears need picking when they are full size and then ripening off the tree? How do I store them? How long can I keep them for?
Please help! Would be grateful of your expertise and advice.
Thank you in advance.

I have Comice and Concorde (which is a x between Comice and Conference)
I wouldn't cook with Comice though - it's one you need to eat standing naked in the bath there's so much juice - that's how I do it anyway
Pears should be picked before they are ripe. Some info here under Harvesting

Many of these pears have started dropping from the trees already and are quite large. How do I know when to harvest them? Just by size?
Several websites say end of October? I would think these have all fallen from the trees by then! This year we have had such a long summer, maybe they are ready to be picked earlier?
