  • Are you sure you cannot put it into a bigger pot?  I've moved quite mature specimens from pot to ground and vice versa.  Do you have a photo of it, so we can get an idea of the scale?

Photo would certainly help, as @KeenOnGreen says, but you can remove and replace some of the top layer of soil in the pot, and use a slow release food. That's best done in late winter/early spring, but there's no harm in refreshing a layer of soil just now.  :)

That should really be done each year anyway, with potted plants of any kind, as they're reliant on you for care, and nutrients are limited due to them being potted long term.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Looks good @michael227, so you're clearly doing something right  :)
Just refreshing the soil, and a slow release food [Blood, Fish and Bone is excellent]  will be fine in spring. Keeping it well hydrated in long, hot spells too, especially if it's also a bit windy. Wind is often even more drying for foliage than sun, and pots dry out very quickly in windy sites too.

You can also give them a foliar feed of seaweed - that's good for all foliage plants, but best through the growing season. Not when it's sunny though, as it can be a problem for the foliage. Pick a dull, cloudy day to do that :)
