Brown Spots on Yellow Tomatoes

Hello!

We are new to gardening. Our yellow (balconi variety) tomatoes have developed these small brown spots (picture attached). Does anyone would know what causes this and if they are still edible?

Thank you.

  • Possibly a little bit of weather damage but unless they’ve been sprayed with a pesticide I’d be perfectly happy to eat them. They look great 😋

  • Thank you! No pesticides used at all. It seems to be a recurring issue with them though. We have several plants and they all produce fruits which get these brown spots. All the plants are healthy otherwise, although they have been outside so weather could be an issue.

My husband tasted one today and they taste fine! It's just a bit off putting...

I don't think it's a disease but rather the type of tomato. I can only find one mention of it and that also thinks it is just genetic. I'm pretty sure I have had it on yellow tomatoes myself.
  • Thank you! That would make a lot of sense as it is on all the plants even when they are not near each other.
