Hi again, sorry I’ve been away for the past 2 months stuck abroad with covid so back home for at least a month and need to crack on with my garden preparation for this summer as not sure how long I’m home for. I realise not the best time of year to be planting but would like to do what I can, if it’s sensible to do so.

Can I plant my ivy at this time of year or should I wait until it’s warmer in spring, bearing in mind I live in Aberdeen which currently is having some very cold and frosty days.

Should I plant or wait till spring for the best environment for the plant ?

@KL, if it was my garden, I wouldnt plant any ivy there or anything else permanently. It  is looking very neat currently. You could have some seasonal colorful plants pot there, a hanging basket etc to integrate it with rest of the garden. Something bright and beautiful but not blocking the side path.

You can plant any time, as long as it isn't frozen. Ivy will establish at any time of year.

@newbie77- it's for screening the houses on the other side. I don't think a hanging basket or two is going to do that, and the potential damage to one's head could be considerable  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
