Parsley turning pale

I am growing several parsley plants in a trough which has 2 drain holes, in non-peat compost. Their new shoots are a healthy dark green but turn much paler as they grow, to the point where when big enough to harvest, they're too pale. I feed them with Phostrogen. Any advice?

It just looks like the older leaves are dying - mine look similar, just cut them off which will encourage more fresh new leaves.

But of course it's getting late in the season too and the whole plant will die back eventually, so make the most of the fresh new leaves while you still can.

Parsley also has a big tap root that likes to go deep into the soil which your plants can't do - you'll get better results planing in the ground.
