Dry Boarder

This last year i planted a hydrangea in a boarder and it was growing fine until the summer came in. The boarder became very dry and the hydrangea has suffered, is there a way i can get it to stay moist by adding something.

Organic matter - compost/rotted manure/leaf mould. A good thick mulch once it's thoroughly wet will also help.

You may be better to have a seep hose running along it as well  though, if you have a lot of dry weather, and the ground dries out readily.  :)
