Help identifying plant

Could someone please help identify this plant. I have lots of these growing across the garden which I assumed were some sort of bulbs but there's never any flowers that appear. Not sure if they should be removed or not!

    Could be a wild iris (iris foetidissima). The flowers are easily missed, especially in shade.

    I thought at first they were some kind of sedge/carex, but the leaves may not be right.
    Have you dug any up, do they have roots or are they definitely bulbs?

    Thanks for the reply. I've dug one out, they appear to have roots.

    Another vote here for iris foetidissima 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Thanks for the responses all. I can't recall ever having seen these flower though and I have lots of these all over the garden, they all just have the green leaves as per the photos.

    They should have large green seed pods now which open in winter to reveal bright orange seeds.

    hi again, I looked at a number of these plants, none had any seed pods.

    Not day lily, they have tubers/bulbs like sausagey fingers. We have to pick axe ours out. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
