Foliar feeding

B) Morning all, I have read a few ideas on foliar feeding and it seems its a matter of personnel choice, however a few ideas recommend spraying Tommies and Cues to include the leaf (Stomata) which I understand does control opening and closing of cells for certain reasons, one being to help the plant fight off unwanted spores and diseases,  what I don't understand is, some say spray the underside and topside of leaves to attain better food intake, now not wanting to upset any normal balance of the plants I ask has anyone advise of foliar spraying with water and or a feed , any info I have picked up from books/pc etc only seems to include large farming ideas not my little garden, who sprays and what's in it, please Alan,,, Quite nice erein NottsB

Diluted epsom salts are suggested for foliar feeding, especially for roses, seems to perk them up a bit if they're looking a bit peaky, then I pour the rest around the roots. Don't look for immediate effect though.

I use dilute seaweed solution as a foliar feed on my bay and other shrubs if they're looking a bit peaky ... it seems to perk them up ... I've not used it on tomatoes or similar and I don't deliberately spray on upper or under surfaces.
