Can anyone identify this please

Was given this as a miniscule cutting and told it was Penstemon.  Have nurtured it, but it looks nothing like my other Penstemons.  Can anyone identify it or have I been cosseting a weed?

    I think you’re right @Hostafan1 😃

One thing is sure, it's not a penstemon!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Looks like Honesty to me.

Have kept this over winter and I think it is leysesteria formosa, as it is similar to one in my neighbours garden.  So guess the Penstemon didn't make it.   This looks quite vigorous so wondered whether it needs sun or whether I could put in it a shady but bare part of my garden.  Any thoughts very welcome please.

Yup that looks like my neighbours plant.  Thanks Silver Surfer, will try it in the shady bit at the bottom of the garden.

One of my absolute favourite weeds!
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I prune my plant down to 6 inches to keep it a manageable size as it was gifted to me by a passing bird next to a hydrangea.
