Is this a baby palm?

Morning All

I accidentally killed my palm tree and had to take it down due to rot.

At the base of the rotten stem there is a shoot, do you think it's a new palm pr some random plant that has grown up through the rotten trunk.

It has been there since we took the palm down.

TIA

It looks like a daffodil to me :)
The pointy ends aren't as pointy as your palm, and the leaf texture looks different.
Could easily be wrong, but there's one way to find out...

Yes I'll be leaving it for now and see how it grows as I've now got a very bare spot where the trunk was!
  • I'd second a bulb of sorts as per @Buttercupdays.

Whether a new shoot will eventually appear depends on what actually killed the palm ( Cordyline ? ) and when.  They usually regenerate but only if some of the roots are still viable.

    Thankyou.

Guess it's a wait and see.

The palm was killed accidentally by hammering in a nail to hang up some solar lights!
