  @tuikowhai34. What greens? Veggies? Don't have any only the mankey last few green beans. It's welcome to them.   I think it is a Bush Cricket, they have longer antennae than Grasshoppers. They are mostly omnivores but do eat some vegetable matter.

  @floralies and @ Bijdezee  I do stand corrected!  But strangely enough, I googled it in French, and they say exactly the opposite!!  Crickets have the shorter antennae.  (I looked at your site suggestion too, Bijdezee.)  Still, they always make me jump too when I disturb them in the garden!!

  @tuikowhai34 the French have named them the opposite way round to the English or maybe vice versa who knows?
