Hi can anyone tell me why my huge healthy canna lily which I have in a pot in the sun this year has lots of flower stems but the flowers are really small ? Thanks

What variety is it? Are the flowers usually bigger? Have you changed anything about the way you keep it, water and feed it? Is the compost fresh or old, what size is the pot and is it root-bound?

That looks more like the hardy ginger lily - Cautleya spicata ... not a canna 🤔

Cautleya spicata in the foreground ... canna behind it.

The flowers look normal for a species canna, i.e. not a variety specifically bred for large flowers. Do you know what type it is?
