Amelanchier suckers

I have a 3 year old multi stem Amelanchier Lamarckii and it is growing several suckers (??) in the soil at the base. Should they be removed?

Depends.. mine has multi-stems growing from the ground as I've never pruned it and left it as a bush.. maybe 20 individual stems?  It's hard to tell what is new stems and what is growth from low branches.  If you have it pruned up the stems a bit with bare bottoms.. you can decide if you want more stems in that area or would like them removed.  I think the pruned ones look better with three or five stems up from the ground personally.. but depends on the situation.. behind some tall perennials you could get away with quite a few.

Thanks @Blue Onion. I think it would look better without them so I think i will remove them. It's got about 5 stems and the extras would change the overall shape. Thanks again :-)
