@Braidman - bit late to this discussion but (like @lily6) I also have a Geka lance. It's metal, it's comfortable to use, has a long reach and you can buy spares for it. It's never leaked and doesn't mind being dropped occasionally. I asked for it as a birthday present because it was a bit more expensive - but I fully expect to never have to buy another watering lance. Much better than the 3 or 4 plastic ones (Hoselock & Gardena) I've had (and eventually binned) in the past.

@Meomye - the Geka has a standard Hozelock style male fitting to connect with a Hoselock style female hose-end fitting.
The Geka is all metal so (if you have a plastic hose-end fitting) you will be fitting metal to plastic. Not necessarily a problem, but I prefer to use brass hose fittings. At the very least they don’t crack if you drop them....
