Advice on bamboo

I'm looking for some recommendations  on the best type of bamboo for my situation. I want to use bamboo to essentially extend the height of a 6 foot high, north facing, brick wall to provide some dappled shade in my small garden west facing garden.  It’s going to be growing behind the north facing wall in a raised bed that I plan to be 30cm deep and 50cm wide. So it’s going to need to be good in shade, but as soon as it grows taller than the 6foot wall the top is going to be in full sun. I would like dappled shade so don’t want anything too dense and I’m looking for nothing taller than about 4m. I quite like the look of PHYLLOSTACHYS NIGRA but a bit worried it won’t grow behind a north facing wall. Any suggestions.
