Crab apple

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a crab apple tree with a maximum height of between 8-10ft. Thanks.

Malus Admiration/Adirondack is a dwarf crab apple with an ultimate height of around 4m but it's very slow in getting there, which would mean you'd have a lot of years (and a lot of opportunity) to have it at around the 8-10ft height. It's one we are considering for our garden redesign.

@Astraeus...thanks for that...seems pretty much perfect, I just need to enquire if my little space is suitable for it though. I'll contact this great website I came across whilst Googling the name. Many thanks once again.

You're most welcome. MailOrderTrees comes very highly recommended.

For what it's worth, Red Sentinel (as suggested by silver surfer) is the one I think I'm going to go for but it seems to be able to outgrow the Adirondack. I wasn't aware of it on a dwarf stock.

@Astraeus...ultimately I suppose it all depends on how much room you've got. Your suggestion, as it happens seems to be perfect for my situ, and further advice from the excellent website/supplier "Pippin Trees" which I happened upon in my "Googling", added a couple more potential alternatives.
  • I have Red Sentinel, but not on a dwarf rootstock. It is a beautiful tree and I cannot recommend it enough. Worth a look is Malus toringo 'Aros', which I bought at Wisley two years ago. Striking foliage, very unlike the crab apples I was more familiar with. Frank Matthews of Tenbury Wells was the grower supplying Wisley and there are three pages of crab apples on their site to feast your eyes on.
