Large areas Ivy in large suddenly died???

Hi I have large mixed native hedges planted which  also has a lit of ivy which for some reason has suddenly died any ideas why? and what to do as the hedge is an important divide between myself and the local primary school, my idea was to cut the dead Ivy out and replant again with native hedge plants ???

    I would take all the dead stuff off, you may have to poison the Bindweed, then see what’s what underneath, make be able to save some it it with a good prune.

    Many thanks Lyn I agree about the bindweed I have a problem throughout my garden. Appreciate your advice 👍

    I wish the ivy that comes over the wall from my neighbour's garden like the Mongolian Horde would just die like that  B) .

    Maybe they used weedkiller on the other side?
