Next step with potatoes

First time gardener here, and I’d like to verify the potato harvesting process.

I head to the beds and gently get the potatoes out. I gently brush the dirt off. Take them to the garage.

Do I need to give them time to dry before placing in hessian bags? I assume that I won’t wash them.

Tips, advice welcome.

I think advice is indeed not to wash if you’re planning to store as this can damage the skin. Just gently brush off the thickest dirt.

Yes to drying them, spread them out for a couple of days somewhere cool and dark (the garage floor would be perfect) then once they are dry brush off any extra dirt and put them into the bags, remember that hessian doesn't block enough light so you'll still need to keep them somewhere dark.
