Capillary matting is the best thing ever for raising a large quantity of seedlings in tiny pots.
@edhelka super idea, thank you! I wish I'd complained about this earlier!!!

@newbie77 that's so frustrating. I've often wondered about Wickes compost. It's such a good price. Had I been able to get delivery during lockdown I probably would have risked it. And yes getting rid of compost is so difficult.

@bullfinch I did this with my tiny delphiniums and the snails got to them. I managed to locate them by the single tiny stem that was left. But what is a toffee garden shop please? I'm intrigued!!

@newbie77 In what way was the compost contaminated? I’m using wickes compost in my garden and pots and this got me worried.

I think it was contaminated by herbicide. I have used their compost in past once and it was ok but this lot was bad. If your plants are doing ok then your packets would be ok. Mine were terribly deformed.

@newbie77 Thanks for replying. Everything seems alright. Not a great year for some plants, but hopefully it’s not the compost as I’ve mixed generous amounts in the soil after digging it.

🍬hi @Camelliad, I couldn't remember the name of the online seller 😕, but they sent a toffee with the order. I think they always do! 😋

@bullfinch that's fantastic!! I thought you had perhaps mistyped - I'm so glad it's a real thing! I am currently cross with Secret Gardening Club so will make it my mission over the next few months to find the toffee garden shop!

Westlands organic hoover droppings. Three quarters of the bag sitting there and getting in the way. Will chuck it on an unimproved patch and hope it disappears.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
