    Hello @velvet_rose1980
May I ask if have you investigated what's underneath the existing decking?
I'm wondering if it's wooden joists tied into the house wall foundations or more heavy duty long concrete slabs. We have the latter type on our terrace which rest on a 4 ft high wall (we are also on a slope). We have sandstone slabs laid on the top of the concrete ones with a flight of concrete/sandstone steps leading down to the garden.
Hope that helps with the decisions.

  • Hi @Lizzie27, we have a timber frame/joists underneath, with a breeze block wall at the front. So it's looking like we'll be replacing like for like, if we want to keep a cavity for storage. Due to weight and movement, as others have pointed out. Shame, as I think what you have sounds lovely. 😍 Thank you for your input. ☺️
