Wet Clay, Sandy soil
in Plants
Good Afternoon, I have been busy in my garden over Spring and Summer, thank you to people for previous help, I have now put a small ready made pond into the garden and have cleared around it and would now like some advice as to what plants would be suitable for a clay/sand soil, shady and wet to plant around not in the pond, I appreciate this may not be easy as the soil is clay but there is also a lot of sand as well as the area under the window appears to have been filled in by the previous people who lived here. The photo shows the pond and I as mentioned have now removed the paving stones around it hence the need for some plants Thank you for any help. Sean

Don't forget to add a ramp/graduated stones to allow an escape route should anything fall in.eg hedgehog.

Trollius plants cope well. The problem can be that in the winter the clay holds too much moisture and this can cause root rot. The plants I mentioned seem to survive this.
