squirrels

How do I stop squirrels decimating our apple and fig trees of the fruit before it is fit for human consumption?

  •  Are you sure it is squirrels taking the apples?
The blackbirds and magpies attack our apples in the orchard whilst the squirrels go for the walnuts and hazelnuts.
Birds will also take the figs.
Here we haven't had squirrels taking apples or figs. They do raid the bird feeder so stop topping them up for some weeks to deter them.

I had a fig once . One green fig. I watched a squirrel pick it off, take a bite a throw it away in disgust. There's a few more this year. Maybe he'll remember and leave them alone - fat chance.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
