Hi, I'm new to the site. This is the first year that I've grown a variety of veg, having built three large raised beds earlier in the year. I have been pleased with most of my efforts - the broccoli and cabbages have, however, taken a hammering from the caterpillars, but most have produced veg. I've enjoyed my time in the garden and have learned what works and what doesn't which will, hopefully, leave me better prepared next year.
Re: the comments saying that horse manure should be put in a compost bin or piled up in a corner (to become mulch) and then spread from later autumn, is it ok to leave it in thick polythene bags until then?

Thank you and happy gardening everybody!
It sounds like we're at a very similar stage with our journey into growing. Im enjoying being in the garden and am finding excuses to find tasks to do in it. Im prepared that its going to change as the weather gets colder, but Im hoping the interest will stay with me for future years.
I was going to ask the same question about keeping manure in plastic bags.
