Sad fern houseplant

I bought a fern houseplant about 6 weeks ago - it was fine until last week when leaves started to shrivel, then die and fall off.  Most of it is still healthy - what can I do to cheer it up?  It is on the landing floor with 2 other plants but gets light from a nearby window. I haven't let it dry out.

Which fern?  There are loads and some like a humid atmosphere and some prefer it dry.  Some like plenty of light and others don't.

  • Unfortunately I have no idea - it's quite a pale green and the fronds are made up of small crinkly leaves - it isn't shiny like some ferns are.  This is perhaps a lesson I need to learn - only buy from nurseries or shops which label their plants properly!

Try uploading a photo using the rectangular icon with the mountain and sun and make sure the size is reduced as there's a maximum on here.   Then someone can identify it and tell you what it likes.
