St. John's Wort growing out of...

...my wall!

It's a wall that gets no sun at all. It's where I normally sit to escape the sun (curse of being ginger!).

It's well and truly "in there". Had a tug on it and it won't budge.

I did have one growing out of the south facing wall when we moved in but I had to get rid of it as I needed the space.

It's fine there (as in I don't mind) but would it be possible for me to pull it out and pot it up in the sunnier part of the yard?

I doubt I'll get any roots though.....

Any thoughts?

Agree with the above, and it does root pretty easily from my experience.

I've got the same problem. I had some appear as volunteers a couple of years ago and now they are in the front wall. It's not good as the wall is damaged and needs to be looked at but I've left them for now. Might try to propagate one and plant it in a better spot.

It must be a Gateshead thing @Mander The bees tend to love most of what grows in and out of the walls so I tend to leave them be. We had leaf cutters using the SJW that was here when we first moved in.

The odd thing is I don't know how they got here as none of my neighbours on any of the streets around here seem to have them. But I have left them along with the toadflax for now because the bees love them. I spotted another one I hadn't noticed before hiding out under the fuchsia, though, so when I yank it out of the wall later on I'll still have one in the garden.

It's a mystery @Mander They always say bird droppings or wind when plants turn up in strange places.  There are a LOT in the street down from mine
