Holey carrot

Hi everyone,

It's only affected a couple of my small carrot crop, but any idea what might have caused the neat holes in this carrot? Apologies that the photo is slightly out of focus.

    Round holes at the top like that are usually caused by small slugs rather than the more damaging carrot fly.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Thanks BTG. Think I've had a reasonable amount of success keeping the slugs and snails at bay so far this year but a couple of tiddlers have obviously beaten me.
