Moving Hollyhocks

Hi, 

Can you move Hollyhocks? They've grown where I dont want them.

  • Yes you can as we did last year. They sulked a bit but did flower though this year.
    Just make sure you water them (it is raining here!) to allow them to settle in.

    They grew from seed in the boarder this year. Was wondering they've grown a tap root yet.

    In that case they are fine to move now.  They don't develop the tap root until the flower stems start emerging in their 2nd year (being biennials.)
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
