A mystery plant, to me anyway!

On the front page of Gardeners World last August, Carol is admiring a plant  with deep maroon/purple leaves.  Please can someone identify it for me?  I have one, but without a label, and I haven't been able to find info on it anywhere.
Thankyou, Anthea

Are  you sure of the issue date?  There was a photo of some Echinacea on the cover of the Aug 2019 issue, and no Carol Klein.  Do you have a photo of your plant?
  • At last I've managed to attach this photo - I hope it works!

Possibly Lysimachia 'firecracker'. Does it have yellowy bracts/flowers?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I wondered if it could be Eupatorium Chocolate, l think the name is now Ageratina altissima ?
  • Agree with @Fairygirl, looks like lysmachia to me.
  • The insignificant, tiny white flowers last autumn were at the tips of the stems.  Sadly I haven't kept a photo of them.

If they were small white flowers, quite possibly eupatorium (as was)

  • Thank you AnniD. I'll keep an eye open for pictures of 'Chocolate', and I'll upload a picture when mine is in flower.
  • Is there an Atriplex with the purple foliage. My dauhter gave me some seedlings grown from seeds given as a gift so I had no label. Mine have now grown to to approx.2/3 ft and it looks as if there are going to be very small white flowers in the tips. Or it could be a lobelia. You are supposed to be able to eat the leaves in salad, they are slightly bitter.
  • Thanks Joyce. I've tried checking out Atriplex, but can't find any that look so maroon/purple as mine.
