@tuffnelljohn - The cherry toms I was talking about are called Sweet Millions and they produce (seemingly) hundreds of small tomatoes. With this variety the individual trusses grow very long, have several branches and produce more and more flowers through the season.

I think with most tomato varieties the trusses will continue to grow and produce more flowers / fruit if you just pick individual fruits from the vine. It is just so much more noticeable on the Sweet Millions variety and the individual trusses become very large indeed.

If you remove a whole truss with the tomatoes are still attached to the vine (like the vine-ripened tomatoes you buy in the supermarket), then you will stop that truss producing any more fruit.

I think that is correct info but I'm definitely no expert! I haven't grown toms for several years and only decided to do it this year because lockdown meant I'd be home to water and harvest instead of gallivanting on my jollies! 🙂😎
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
