scorched acer?

my acer was doing really well a few months ago and had a lot of new branches sprouting but now the leaves are turning brown and dropping a lot sooner than they would normally - usually they turn orange in the autumn and then drop. The leaves also have some powdery white marks on them.

I'm not sure if its been scorched by the really hot spring sun that we had - it doesn't have any shade on it until the afternoon. Any advice greatly received!

move it to a shadier site.
    Keep it well watered.
    Keep out of strong winds.

Puncdoc beat me to it! They are Japanese woodland plants, they dont like sun or wind.  Yours looks to have powdery mildew, caused by the sun. I wouldnt re-pot it now, its unhappy enough, move it asap to a cooler shady location, and hope for the best.  Re-pot next Spring, if it survives.Mine are in pots about this size, I have to admit, and perfectly happy (or so they tell me)
  • Thanks guys, much appreciated. Kind of what I thought, but good to have reassurance! Taking ur advice and keeping my fingers crossed

The greeny/yellow ones are also more susceptible to damage from the elements than the dark ones.  :)
