English Lavendar 'Hidcote' and afternoon sun
Hi,
I planted an English Lavendar Hidcote about a month ago on the east side of a north-facing garden, next to the fence. It seems to be surviving, but I'm not convinced it's going to fully grow there.
At the moment, it's getting shade for the whole morning, and then sun from around 1.30pm until 7pm. Do you think that this will be ok for the plant? I've not got any space on the other side of the garden, as I've recently had to move my Choisya Ternata to that side, as that was really struggling.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

Surprised your Choisya didn't cope - I have a large one that flowers prolifically in a NW-facing border. It has a fence behind it (to the South of it) and a large 30ft conifer to the SW of it, so it barely gets any direct sunlight!
To be fair, it may not have been lack of sun that's causing it problems. I'm very new to plants so i could be doing something else wrong. I've been watering it every couple of days, unless it has rained a lot. It's clay soil, so it may not be draining enough, but I was told by the garden centre that it would be ok. I'll see how it fares where it is now and hope for the best!
