What to feed chillies

My chilli plants (indoors) have just started flowering, can i use any plant feed on them or do they need a certain type?

Thanks.

I use tomato feed on my chillies.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Same tomato feed and they’ve taken off, it’s great.

I’m not a professional grower but personally I feed once a week as soon as the first tiny little chillies   / peppers / tomatoes appear.

@ERICS MUM my chillies have flowered and then fell off from the stem, what is going on?
I feed them when the water in the saucer dries up just a little so that it starts to show water again as I'm told not to let them dry out.
I'm feeding them with miracle grow plant feed.
Also, I had a problem with aphids but sprayed daily with a mixture of washing up liquid and water which seems to have cured that problem but, can it have harmed the plants?

    Thanks again.

I only water mine when the leaves have drooped al the way down as my experienced grower said that the less you water the plants the stronger the taste.

Grown in 8 inch pots and kept on the window ledge..........

As I mentioned earlier I speak only from personal experience.  Dropped flowers could be a few things.  Not enough watering, too cold or flowers not being pollinated by insects for whatever reason.  I’m sure there will be other causes which Ive not experienced.

The conditions in which your chillis have been growing will tell you the most likely cause.

How do you then water them? Top, bottom or submerging the pot?

@NewBoy2 I have them on my window sill indoors, I water them (with feed) from the top gently until I see the water coming out the pot saucer at the bottom. Two days later when all dry, I do the same again. Unfortunately I don't have any (known) insects in house and am not keen on introducing any, aren't Chillies just supposed to grow?
