Spud soil

I've harvested my first spuds so have a container full of soil left. Are there any vegetables that I can grow using this soil or is that a big no-no even if I mix it with compost/manure,etc. ?

You could grow chard spinach beet (perpetual), or salads you won't have to change the soil but you could put some pelleted chicken and blood fish and bone meal if you want otherwise go ahead.If it is a big pot you could put some spring cabbage plants if you can get them.

This link might be of interest to you. With bags and beds (ie, constrained growing media and not directly "in the ground") you'll need to refresh with nutrients as @Plashing says, though.

Thanks @strelitzia32. I put some home-made compost in the tub containing the 'spud soil' earlier. On the basis of the rhs info, I'm going to add some chicken manure pellets and use it in another bed. I've got some peas and sweetcorn waiting patiently to move from the mini greenhouse.

Just to re-open this. I've had other potato plants affected by blight after the monsoon season! Does that make a difference when re-using the soil? Am I right in thinking that it shouldn't be used again for potatoes or relatives but is ok for other fruit and veg?

Spot on, you can use it for anything that isn't related to potatoes but it really shouldn't have potatoes in it again for 4 years.

I read somewhere that there's a disease that potato soil can pass (specifically) on to strawberries - any thoughts or experience?
