Curly Kale.

I have a row of dwarf curly kale which is growing very well in fact its to far on is it alright if I start harvesting the outer leaves now, because other years I have only harvested the middle of the plant which in other years hasn't been ready before November.I am wondering if anybody has used the outer leaves?.

I do while they are still young, but I can never keep up and soon the other leaves are left in favor of the newer younger leaves.  But typically the outer leaves are my first few harvests.

I've been harvesting ours for over a month now picking from the middle layer, leaving the tougher, older leaves at the bottom as well as the central shoot and younger leaves.  We've had a few good meals so far.

That’s how I did it when I grew kale.
