Dead heading

Hello. Looking for advice on how to dead head my annual lavatera. Do you simply take off the head or cut back to where the stalk meets the main stem?Sorry if incorrect terms used 😀

    I don't grow them now, but for deadheading any plant, you just take it back to where there's another new bud, or - if there aren't any, just take it back to a joint with another stem. That might be the main stem.
    If you just cut off the dead flower, it leaves a stalk which is unsightly, so it's better to take the stem right back  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
