What is eating my Photinia?

Hi, I have a Photinia Red Robin planted a few months ago and something seems to be eating the leaves. Pictures below. New leaves seem to be particularly more susceptible. I didn't found any aphids. Could it be slugs/snails? I found some time ago some very round, white/yellowish solitary eggs on the soil nearby.

I also notice some leaves drop (picture of this as well) but very occasionally -- not very concerned about this, but rather about the eating.

Any help or comments is appreciated :)

It's most likely slugs or caterpillar damage, especially if they are more damaged on young emerging leaves. The other possibility is Vine Weevil damage. You may need to go out at night to check if you see the beetles on your plants.

If it's slugs or caterpillar, is there a deterrent that works for both perhaps?

I have seldom had issues with slugs. Others may give you their advice. I think, when the shrub is this young, it is to be tolerated.

Photinias are tough plants and as long as you keep them well watered, they will out-grow all the the damage leaves eventually.
