Can't think of No. 1 but No. 2 is a Hebe of which there are a number of varieties.

Thanks, there are a few Hebes that I like.
  • Yes, you've mentioned hebes many times - you need to buy some!

The first one is dusty miller (Senecio) I think.

I know, today I have just started to memove turf at the front of my lawn to make a new bed,I'm going to have 3 or 4 shrubs and maybe plant bulbs in between, but I do like those silver plants so I might get a couple of them.At some time I will get some Hebes and I will take photos of my end results.I'm trying to improve the lawn this year too.The neighbours are in shock!
  • Well, good luck with your ongoing garden renovation project! Do show the before and after photos - there's a thread on Garden Design on garden makeovers.

I've just sent photos of my back garden and the one bed that I planted at the front to my aunt in Scotland, she was amazed,I had been telling her about it for the last couple of months but she hadn't realised how much work I had put in to it until seeing the photos.
I've really enjoyed the neighbours making kind comments about my garden, and I'm pleased that I have made them happy by everything looking so tidy as it was neglected before.I still have a fair bit to do but it's not going to take too long now.

there’s nothing better than gardening out front for having a chat with neighbours or just passers-by.  It can tend to hold you up at times but you might find yourself exchanging cuttings, seedlings or advice.
  • Often called Cineraria at the garden centre, these are tender plants and unless you have a sheltered garden won't make it thorough the winter. You can buy them as 6-pack box bedding in spring.
