Help !

I’m sight impaired & this leaf has been brought to my attention. I moved in just before lockdown, never had a garden like this before so everything is a challenge. Your help is appreciated as I’ve been told to rip the whole hedge out and put a wood fence in .

    That seems a bit extreme!
Could we see some more of the hedge?
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • It looks like powdery mildew on an Escallonia(?)

I agree it is Powdery Mildew, but suspect that is an Euonymus Japonicus shrub. These shrubs are quite susceptible. Very hard to treat. The shrubs need watering a lot more and some pruning to open up the shrub for air-flow. May need a thick layer of mulch to keep moisture in the soil.

I think it looks more like euonymus than escallonia.
