I have a clematis armandii, in its 3rd year and growing well. Its gone almost over the summer house. But... Its decided to flower again now in August. Is this something they do?
I'm wondering if it's a bad sign and if anyone else has had this happen.
Yes ours has flowered again this year. Not as many flowers but still some. It did this last year as well. We have had the plant for some 30 years and it is lovely.
Had some building work done a few years back and had to prune it quite aggressively.
It didn't mind and came back very easily.
Also new shoots are developing all the time. Lovely colour and the flowers and sent are brilliant.
Not sure why more people don't grow this clematis.
Thanks @Bertrandmabel. They are indeed a lovely plant that's a good do'er. Set my mind at rest, I was worry that it was a 'I'm going to die so I'll flower now' thing. Although, there's no reason for it to die and it's healthy etc. I will just enjoy the extra flowers then
