Seedlings in lawn - should I be worried?

Hi,
I just joined here, because I am a bit confused and am hoping someone can put my mind at rest.
My gardener said she didn't know what these tree seedlings (if that's what they are called) are in my lawn, when I asked her to remove them. Then she said they had probably blown into my garden from a neighbours, then 10 minutes later after using her phone to google, she told me they were called suckers and explained what suckers are.
I don't think this is right, as my previous gardener had removed them. She also said that just mowing the lawn will get rid of them. I am now getting worried as more are appearing, in case the roots are still growing with just the visible bits being got shot of by mowing.
I have attached picture of these things in my currently embarrassingly brown lawn, and also a picture of the trees that overhang my garden in the hope someone can tell me what they are and how best to get rid of them.
I hope someone can give me advice as I've started stressing a bit by what she told me
