  • Thanks ,I do like a courgette but I`d have to be lucky to get them through the winter.
Had some lovely cucumbers this year inside and out.
Re Broad beans ,I must confess I don`t like them. Every year at peak I`m picking 100/150 runners a day and freezing them. I was thinking some variety of cabbage I could taker some winter leaves from and leave the rest to fully form.
Stephen, Can I ask what variety of spinach you plant? I`m growing for Saag curry use mainly. Thanks for the replies folks.

I bought the spinach seed earlier in the year - it was what I could get hold of at the time - America - not a particular recommendation. Like others here I much prefer growing spinach beet/perpetual spinach/leaf beet (all the same just different names) - it doesn't bolt like spinach, survives through the winters and just keeps going (i had a couple of plants which went on producing for 2 years).

  • Spinach beet sounds great and ideal for curries/saag/ dishes. Thanks everyone. PS I have some very curious tomatoes just turning red and I`ll post a pic tomorrow. Just wonder if anyone else has similar.
