Moving a climbing rose?
Hi there,
We will shortly be putting our house up on the market and moving on, but there are a few plants in my borders that I want to take with me. One of which is my David Austen Crown Princessa Maragaret climbing rose. I only planted this last summer and this year it has been absolutely stunning and smells incredible, so i really do not want to leave it behind.
My question is, if I cut it back and dig out a fair bit around it, will I be able to successfully move it to my new property without killing it? As I say it has only been in the ground a year, so it isn't huge, probably chest height.
Many thanks in advance.

Just make sure your buyer knows which plants are going with you by filling in the solicitors forms and also mentioning it to your buyers.
Hope your sale happens smoothly.
Thank you for the advice. Once I have the plant in situ again, what are the rules of thumb with climbing roses? I never cut it back at all over the winter last year as obviously I was trying to encourage it to climb, but should I snip at it at all once established again?
Roses are fairly forgiving
