How to know if I can ripe strawberries?

Hi i have some strawberries and I believe some of them are ready to be ripened. My question is... how can I know if the strawberries are ready or they need more time?

    If it's red and tugs off the stem easily...eat it 😉

    I  pick mine long before that and they ripen very quickly indoors. 
    If I don't do that, the slugs get there first  ;)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
