How do I know when potatoes are ready for harvesting?

I planted my Maris Piper potatoes in April. The bushes in our veg garden are massive. How do I know when the potatoes are ready for unearthing. Is there something I should be looking out for?

just root around in the soil on one of the plants and see what you find. If they are big enough for what you want, they are done. Fresh dug will have skins that rub off like new pots, but tops cut off and left for a couple of weeks in the ground will harden the skin for peeling and keeping.😁

They should be about ready @ 14 weeks after sowing, i.e. depending on when in April you sowed them.  An old adage is 'Flowers on top, spuds below'.

Thanks Nick. They were flowering a month ago, and I cur the flowers off. Might have a rummage today.
